The best birthday gift ever !!!!

This morning my parents called to wish me a Happy Birthday and my mom excitedly told me she had a birthday gift to tell me about. My nephew, Laine, is a church camp this week and they got a call last night that he had received the Lord as his personal Saviour. HALLELUJAH!!!!!! I am crying again as I write this. Laine had made a profession of faith when he was 5 or 6 yrs old but in the recent weeks had been having doubts. He wanted to make sure he was on his way to Heaven so he reached out to his youth pastor and now has assurance of his salvation.

Laine is very special for many reasons but most of all for just being Laine. The day he was born did not start off as a very good day for me. You see it was my 25th birthday and I was not married, engaged or even dating anyone and I felt like an old maid and just generally having a pity party. I got a call shortly before leaving for work on June 9, 1997 that my sister-in-law, Carrie Marie had been in labor all night. I got to the hospital just in time to see my first and so far only nephew born and on my birthday. This was the best birthday gift ever! I love sharing my special day with Laine and would never want it any other way. It is also a special day for my parents because I was their first child and Laine was their first grandchild, so they became parents and grandparents on the day same 25 yrs apart.

Happy 13th Birthday to my sunshine Laine, I love you with all my heart!!!

what a sweet post! and wonderful news about your nephew. I hope he is having fun too and I am guessing he might be at Falls Creek. A church we used to attend is at Falls Creek this week.

my granddaughter was just born this month on my brothers birthday.

My family lives in Kansas City area and they go to church camp at Sagamont near Joplin, Mo. But you are right most of the churches in the area go to Falls Creek.
Congrats on you new grandbaby, I bet her great uncle is proud to share his birthday with her. Have a great day.
Love & Prayers

That is wonderful that Laine is concerned about his soul and wanted to make sure he is saved. He would LOVE the movie called The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry. You can find it at most Christian book stores. We just watched it last night and loved it! It has boys in it about Laine's age who are Christians.
